My Rottweiler has variety of ongoing leg issues and requires the use of a ramp to get in and out of my SUV. I have tried several different types of ramps with limited success. I have had ramps that broke at the hinges or came apart and were just awkward and heavy. So it was back to the internet to do more research on ramps! There are several things in particular I like about this ramp. It is pretty light and easy for me to lift in and out of the car to set up. I really like that it folds up – there aren’t the various anonying issues that you find with the telescoping ramps – but I must warn you to be careful of your fingers when you fold it back up to put it away. The ramp is solidly built and there is very little “give” when a large dog trots up and down it. The biggest plus is the actual length of this ramp. It is longer than other ramps I have seen, which means that it has a more gentle incline which is very helpful to dogs with leg issues. Yes, you need a little more room when you set it up, but dogs with leg issues do much better on a gentle incline. There is great traction on this ramp as well and I haven’t had any problems with any of my dogs slipping, including my Rottie with the leg issues. This ramp is a little more expensive, but well worth the money if you have a dog with leg issues. If your dog doesn’t have leg issues or isn’t a senior, then I would suggest that you take a look at the shorter version of this ramp. Overall, this is a very well made ramp and it has made it much easier for my Rottie to get in and out of my SUV.
